CPD - How it Works

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. It is compulsory for the Immigration Advisers in the UK who are regulated by The Office of Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC). Following the changes in the summer 2016, CPD remains compulsory for those working under the OISC accreditation but there is no longer a certain minimum number of hours. Instead, every adviser is expected to conduct as much study as they believe they require and keep the records (course certificates etc) for the OISC to examine. 2016-17 year is going to be transitional while the new rules will be in force for all from April 2017.

Another change is disappearance of the free CPD learning facility from the OISC website. Now each adviser can select a training provider of their choice.

Prior to November 2014 it also used to be compulsory for the solicitors, regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). Although the SRA no longer runs the CPD scheme, the OISC was still accepting CPD providers, previously accredited by The SRA, until 1 July 2015. We are one of them, our SRA ref EJE/14IM. We have a history of providing professional immigration training since 2013 under the both "old" systems.

From 1 July 2015 The OISC started accepting CPD providers accredited by The CPD Standars Office and we secured accreditation with them accordingly. Our CPD Standards Office provider's ref number is 80001 and their logo can be seen on our website.

CPD we offer:

We offer our own training courses in immigration (core knowledge). We are an immigration company, regulated by the OISC to provide immigration advice to the migrants and we are a practicing company. We deal with the immigration applications on a day-to-day basis from our office in the City of London. We very much practice what we preach! Or perhaps preach what we practice because we added a training side to our business after years of immigration experience and many successful cases.

We were accredited as a CPD training provider by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) while the SRA was running the CPD scheme and are now accredited by the CPD Standards Office. Our courses count towards your annual CPD credit if you are an accredited immigration adviser, even under the new system, following the changes in 2016.

It is very easy to use our courses. Choose a course from a menu on our website, read its Contents and decide it’s for you. You can click Buy Now, pay online with your card (we use PayPal but you don’t need to have a PayPal account, just a debit/credit card). If you are choosing classroom training your place will be confirmed. If you are choosing online training, you will be directed to download a course material, usually as a PDF, which you can read on any computer, iPhone or iPad in your own time. We will also automatically email you a link to a test, which you’d need to take, so we could test your knowledge in order to award your CPD hours. Passmark is normally 70%. When done, email your test to us, we’ll mark it and if you’ve achieved a 70% mark we will email your CPD certificate.

Continuing support:

After you have completed the course and continue with your practice, we provide advice sessions to other Immigration Advisers and Solicitors, for more please visit this page.
